The Eight

Description: Subsect of the Cult of Hana Long Description: The Eight are a sect of Hanans who existed several hundred years after Hana died. They were a group of 8 leaders who claimed to each carry 1/8th of the soul of Hana for revival. They claim to be able to revive Hana into a vessel if they take the Throne of Night and Day.

Historically The Eight was destroyed, having never taken Kpor. But in modern times The Eight is an established Church in the island Kingdom of Veriques, the opposite end of the continent from Kpor.

The royalty of Veriques converted to The Eight long ago, and used it as a point of legitimacy, as a founding story. Today the King of Veriques is careful not to sound too fundamentalist in public, as there are many in the world who are quite uncomfortable with the fundamentally aggressive theology of The Eight.

Miralei School

Long Description: Led by Chimao Se, the Mother Conveyer, a member of the CoD.

Around 4085 Empress Miralei Gan approves of the establishment of the Miralei School, so named after herself. The Church came to be after the charismatic young Solfrey Feng Gengxin, so called "The Guide", claimed to remember his past life as a commoner and being sent back to Earth as a Solfrey to guide other commoners to Heaven.

Unlike the Order which was explicitly militaristic and focused on domination, the Church was ostensibly a pacifist organization that focused on teaching, and helping everyone achieve their fated purpose.

The Church primarily ran hospitals and orphanages, and practiced using magecraft for healing and birth control. They are said to be responsible for commoner population control for the states that wanted that. They were also places of learning, somewhere commoner scholars could go to study before Solfrey institutions allowed them.

Unlike the Catholic or other historical European Churches, the Miralei School did not have mandatory sermons. Rather they solely operated out of hospitals, which were also equipped with large ceremony and funeral halls. This was all part of hospitals because in this world, the Church's magecraft is excellent at preventing the spread of infectious diseases as well being great at treating other ailments such as cancer.

There's also a tradition for priests to give psychological / spiritual healing, like confession for catholics or more like a therapist.

Unlike Europe there's also no concept of a week or weekend, and no "Sunday". Rather ceremonies are held at the church during the very regular national or cultural holidays. Sermons are frequently held during such holidays, and there are other ceremonies and liturgical worship as well.

Unlike the parent Order, the Church's every day leadership and priesthood is mostly filled with commoners and not Solfrey. In short, this is a kinder version of the Order that was more inclusive of commoners and better served their spiritual needs.

Council of Descendants

Description: The leadership group of the Cult of Yan Long Description: At the top of Yan is the Council of Descendants (8 people), lead by the "Scribe", who is supposed to write down the will of the Divine Council, of who the CoD is descendant of.

The Scribe also is supposed to be the deciding vote if tied, essentially counting for 2 votes in council decisions.

The CoD is not promoted from lower tier clergy, but from the children and relatives of political royalty. Children are donated to the Yan at a very early age and are raised to be loyal only to the Yan and forget about their family, taking the Yan as their only real family. They train to compete to be on the CoD, and they are supposed to swear off of politics and business forever.

These children are called the [Vessels of Heaven | This is a bad name, need a name that doesn't evoke a message of being a vessel like commoners are vessels of demons] in outward propaganda, but internally in the organization this is not taken seriously. However this is an honorable title that they will have for life.

If they don't make it in the CoD there are other executive positions, like leading the templars, or the demon hunters, or the Church. But only joining the CoD lets you know the truth about the Demons, the Division, and the real history of Kpor.

The Miralei School is led by the Lilian Guides, a council of 8 Solfrey, mimicking the CoD that controls policy within the church. The prelates below them are generally commoners. Type: Religion Value in Millions: 3000 Characters: Xinru

Cultures

Description: There will be 4 major cultures that gets mentioned at some point. Body: 4 seems to be a good number, matching IRL, that feels flavorful but not overwhelming. Each "culture" is a supranational civilizational grouping analogous to real world's Western, East Asian, Middle Eastern and South Asian groupings. However, we want new cultures, not ones inspired by real world stereotypes. I hate that shit. There are of course many other smaller cultures that exist but they won't be developed. It is expected that only 2 cultures are developed to a significant degree. The home culture of the player (Washan), and another culture to contrast with that culture.

Because the expectation for cultures is for this to be a relatively globalized world, there are not going to be extreme variations. All the cultures are fairly "normal" settled societies as per a modern reader, though there is opportunity for niches. The goal of this story is not anthropological exploration nor sci-fi. Rather, the existence of cultures is solely meant to build immersion, not distract people with anthropology.

Broken Years

Body: 28 years of turmoil about 150 years ago after the last WCA by the Iexin, as Solfrey grew paranoid of the commoners and enacted harsh crackdowns in reaction to the Iexin's ideology.

However once the broken years passed the world gradually came back in the direction the Iexin was moving on in terms of commoner freedom.

Five and a half WCA

Body: Five and a half World Conquest Attempts. A historical short-hand that history students learn.

Gender Power Difference

Description: General Equality is Canon except for issues relating to reproduction, of which the differences between males and females necessitate some dimorphism. But because magical power determines ability, both at work and in fights, women are much more equal to men than IRL. Body: Gender Equality is semi-assumed, but it's not as simple as saying everyone's equal as that's not *really the case.

The game is structured such that the player can choose their sex, and all the love interests are automatically swapped to the opposing sex. This is a dual gender game with different versions produced for a male and female player. However do note that the notes as it exists is for a male player with female love interests. It is automatically converted to another version with a female main character and male love interests at compile time.

Once the sex is selected, the world will seem to pander to the sex of the player, but this is only in "feel", the world is actually canonically more equal.

First, because magic determines fights, both in battle and street fights and so on, there is no superior gender in that way. This impacts everything, as men are not able to simply intimidate women or get their way via brute force. Half the time women win the brute force contest.

The sexes are generally equal when it comes to things like inheritance, including noble titles, promotion at work, and trust in leadership. It's much more equal than our real world.

There is no patriarchy nor matriarchy nor restrictions placed upon one sex to enhance the other. However, that doesn't mean there aren't gender differences that arises out of reproductive biology which have impact on society.

However because our game is a gender pandering game, the world as it exists appear to pander to the player character's sex.

Take for example the harem relationships and the taking of concubines. In our story only the player character has concubines or Ji, the spouse character (Yaling) does not. But this is not because there are any laws or customs prohibiting women from taking it, it is just because the player character is male.

The player character can also be female, in which case she would have a harem of men and male Ji and male concubines, which is also normal in the world. We just ignore the possibility by just never making the spouse show any interest in a harem of their own, because of their all consuming obsession with the MC.

There is one reproductive area where sexual differences are vital. That's in the production of loyalists. Since childbearing is such a pain for women, they are far less likely to want to bear children for commoner men than the other way around. The production of loyalists is mostly done by solfrey men and commoner women.

As a result of this imbalance male commoners are selected frequently against during conception and commoner families prefer to have female children, especially since there is no labor or inheritance advantage to male children.

For this reason, fighting for gender equality is not much of a theme in this story as it is already assumed.
