Overview
The Invasion of Piyse is an alternate route main story arc that leads to the Yaling's family drama arc. It replaces the Rebellion against Piyse's Peizhi Nam's deus ex machina. It starts if you refuse to seduce Peizhi during your private meeting with her. Read that arc first to understand what's going on here.
When you leave the scorean you decide to let her know a relationship is impossible. Yaling has won completely. You also refuse her attempts to contact you.
When you reach out to her during the King's arrest orders, she replies in a letter rebuffing you, saying you had made your choice clear.
You attack the capital as in the Rebellion Against Piyse arc, but diverges from there.
With no help coming, and hearing talks of Mireota verbally supporting King Chao, you pull the trigger on using your undead in Washan as Deng Yu arrives.
Nali tells you that Deng Yu is coming to Piyse and would like to speak to you when she gets here. Deng Yu would be coming in her official capacity as a Yan representative to find a diplomatic solution that avoids excessive bloodshed. Deng yu is your lover, she comes ostensibly as a neutral diplomat but really it's to support you personally. She's also using this as an excuse to come see you, as she misses you and can't get her hands off of you.
The ploy where the undead are following Deng Yu works perfectly, despite your worries, nobody is ever suspicious.
There's a brave siege defense of Yanezhou against the undead with Deng Yu.
[The default choice for the Invasion of Piyse route leading to the Chun family refugee arc.] Afterwards, the decision is made to retreat from Yanezhou back to Len, leaving Deng Yu in the capital, since that's she's the supposed target of the undead. There she will wait for Yan reinforcements while you try to save Len. All of Yaling's family and their entourage go with you to Len as you escape Yanezhou.
[Alternative Deng Yu Route] Stay in Yanezhou with Deng Yu to fight the undead together.
Having fought off one attack on Yanezhou, the undead army expands to raid the country.
You secure Len, gathering your forces, repelling the undead attacks on it. You hear reports of Piyse being devastated. The various armies of Piyse fell upon and destroyed.
Yaling is in fear as Nuolan is "attacked" and the sendways cut off. Ultimately Noulan defenses holds (there was never a real attempt to damage Noulan, it was just a pretense, like the attack on Len).
The Chuns agree to put the civil war issue on hold as everyone focuses on fighting the undead hordes. Deng Yu calls for a ceasefire with the civil war.
Len gains defacto independence and Yanezhou becomes Yan territory temporarily.
Piyse just becomes a long term battleground between the undead and the Yan. The central monarchy is destabilized and it becomes impossible to travel freely around the country for the duration of the arc.
While it is too dangerous to travel the sendways to Noulan, Yaling's family are refugees in Len, setting up the Chun Family Refugee Arc as described in their files. However Acasa itself is fine and isn't terribly damaged, but there are consistent threats around Len for a time. This arc last take about 4 months as we await Deng Yu to stabilize the country. However even after, she does not allow the civil war to resume.
Yaling's family, her sister and her husband and her jis, her brother and wife and their entourage, and her parents and their entourage, all are refugees in Len. You put them up at various guest houses on your estate.
Random Scene Ideas
- Weilan notices Anyi chastising a servant not for a mistake, but for fidgeting. Anyi then commands the servant to stand perfectly still in a corner of the room, holding a decorative vase, for the next hour. "You'll make a much more pleasing statue than a servant," she says with a laugh.
Chun Family Refugee Arc
There are 4 versions, of this arc, based on your choices during the Dou Rong investigation and the Piyse Politics arc. If you chose to allow the investigation into Jingyao for Dou Rong's disappearance, his relationship with his wife is shaky and acrimonious by this time. If you do not, their relationship is perfect.
If you ally with the Chuns during the Piyse Politics arc, they enter into this arc as friendly allies and will stay loyal to you. If you do not, they are disloyal and will try to conspire against you.
With these 2 branching points, we have 4 versions of this arc.
Variation 1 Good Relationship Start -> Sweet Tragedy
MC's overwhelming appeal seduces a devoted, loving wife, destroying a good marriage. Develop the personalities, characters of Yaling, her family, and and relationships.
Yun starts devoted to Jingyao, the two have a sweet, trusting, supportive and loving relationship. This never changes aside from Yun's affair.
MC and Yun are instantly attracted to one another, they're both attractive people and the chemistry overwhelming. They're drawn to one another on a personality level with a shared sense of humor, but the physical hotness and the idea of the forbidden temptation cannot be denied. The forbidden temptation is on both sides, Jingyao is a historical family rival and Yun has a 1-sided rivalry with Yaling.
MC connects with her on a personal level (e.g., shared experience with rumors), fostering an emotional bond. Yun develops powerful feelings for MC himself, feeling swept away by his presence and appeal and ability to command and control. Her fall stems from this powerful connection, not from seeking validation denied by in-laws or specific vulnerabilities exploited by circumstance. It's a willing but tragic betrayal driven by genuine infatuation for MC.
The route should heavily focus on the MC's relationship with Yun, avoiding any comparison with Jingyao, saying anything negative about their marriage (it's depicted as perfect), nor give any extended time to thinking about Jingyao at all.
As Yun and MC gets closer, he gets to see the person behind the smiles and the laughter, and how foibles and insecurities. Her jealousy of Yaling for example. But this is not the reason for the affair, it's just to add texture to her character.
At least at the start this sounds like a pure love story despite the situation.
Scene at night when you're talking with Yaling: With a 2 fingers in her vagina and 2 fingers in her mouth, playing with her she lies on you, back to you, both naked in bed.
You tell her about Yun, how she is coming onto you, but you're also attracted to her.
Aftermath: MC and Yaling cruelly misrepresent the situation to Jingyao, framing Yun's actions as inherent "whorishness" or disloyalty to manipulate him, making the affair seem like it was a loyalty test for his sake.
It plays into Yun's previous reputation, with Yaling letting him know that she wasn't fit for the family anyway.
Jingyao, heartbroken and manipulated, divorces Yun. Yun, devastated and now emotionally dependent on MC, comes to you utterly broken, begging to be taken as a mistress. This is the "sweet tragedy" path.
