Event 1: Grand Kpor Congress

1.1. Deng Yu Seduces MC, 2.1. Connection & Friendship, 2.2. Yan Politics, 2.5. Feelings for the Count

• A bustling, ornate hall during a recess at the Global Grand Kpor Congress in virtual Sanming in the SCN. Solfrey nobles and Yan officials in elaborate attire mingle, their conversations a low hum.

  • It's a SCN meeting.
  • We intro and explain the Global Grand Kpor Congress.md as per the file.
  • This Frey time was for the Necromancer.
  • MC thinks about how crazy it is that an entire congress is for him, has some flashes of him getting exposed and then being arrested while at this congress. Thinks about giving a self-righteous speech, vs trying to fight your way out with your necromantic powers. Then pushes those thoughts away. Obviously there really isn't any reason to suspect any specific person.

• You're with Yaling and your younger cousin (16 yo). You point out a few people, who is who (teaching her). You name several notables Yan officials as they pass by, before getting to Deng Yu.

  • Internally you mention that about wanting to hire her in place of Cinean.
  • But you introduce her to your cousin as a brilliant rising star who defeated the Fukazor.

• You overhear some catty woman talking about how she probably slept her way up.

  • Pretty obscene dialogue here, be creative.
  • "Let's not embarass yourselves by acting like a bunch of jealous bimbos. You underestimate Deng Yu, she is brilliant, most people can't begin to grasp how much she has already accomplished."
  • You see one of them look embarassed, but a guy next to her, looks like her boyfriend, makes a disguisted face at you. "Ugh, Deng Yu fans are so cringe." (come up with various misogynistic remarks that don't sound anachronistic)
  • You rejoin with some cutting remark.

• You meet the father of Ki Samen, your friend and his wife. You're rejoined by Yaling and you watch Chimao Se give a speech to the assembled kings.

  • She talks about the evil heresy of the Necromancer, how the world must treat it seriously to safeguard the rule of the Solfrey.
  • The Yan is the guardian of the world, and will elminate the necromancer. She asks for the world to contribute information and for military access throughout to hunt the Necromancer where they may be.
  • She talks a little bit about history and how if the Yan doesn't take control outcomes may be chaotic as in the previous QiangDi situation. The Yan has been entrusted with the safety of all Solfrey since the time of the Kpor Empire... etc some history.
  • She assures the kings of Fabuwie that though some of the conflict may come to their lands, the Yan itself will maintain and take control over any forces used and will minimize damage, it is absolutely not a power grab but a serious and righteous world protector mission.

• Afterwards, Yaling says she'll spend a while hanging out with her family in the SCN. You can go back. As you're leaving, a courier comes up to you with an invitation from Deng Yu.

• POV switch to Deng Yu.

• She invites you for a small talk in a SCN space that ends up being a 5 hour straight intense first meeting / friendship right out of the gate. Some of the conversation is written out in dialogue, but the key is to convey that you guys have great instant rapport.

  • Upon meeting you you charm her instantly and then you talk for 5 hours straight.
    • You blast through formality and instantly gets her laughing and in a casual mood.
  • She thinks about how attractive you are but also how annoying you were on the podcast.
    • She thinks: You just did it again (acted arrogantly) to those catty women, telling them that they didn't get it, but this time it was used to defend her.
    • “I was younger and cockier then,” he admits. “Hopefully I’m only one of those now.” Deng Yu actually snorts at that, covering her mouth – an endearing lapse in her usual poise.
  • She tells you that people are jealous of her because she was promoted so quickly.
  • You empathize with her, saying that you know how it is to not be taken seriously for your accomplishments for being young. You had published a book that people doubted was your writing.
  • She has listened to your podcasts and seen your ideas on magecraft, she is largely critical of it.
  • When she offered criticism it was shot down, and she thought you were an annoying person
  • But in person she finds you much more charming than expected, and the contrast is fascinating
  • Her internal dialogue shows her thinking you are much nicer and less arrogant than she thought. You explained your ideas well, even if she doesn't agree.
  • You had invited her to appear on your podcast before, but she didn't respond.
  • She asks if you were still doing them, and you said no, not really, not since becoming the count. It was too hard to find the time.
    • In fact you had taken them all down, they were too embarassing, you tell her.
      • AN: This is actually a clue that they contained relevant secrets to the illusion magic, and you were aware of that and removed them. But of course some people had already seen them.
