Quest

Overview

Jiayi's quest is a sad and dramatic story that ends in tragedy. We really want to make the case that doing story events are not always great, can seriously hurt you. Initially, I wanted her to betray the player and work against you, and you'll have to put her down. But since I am a player-first developer, I am not about that NTR life, so her tragedy is personal to her instead and so she can still remain an attractive character that players can simp over. This is kind of limiting as a writer but I'm not about to ruin the character's likeability.

The Nartho

• After capture by you Jiayi attempts to infiltrate Nartho to ensure that no additional investigations into you are launched (for Dou Rong's disappearance).
• While doing so Jiayi discovers that the Nartho is a front for the Milliren. The Nartho is plotting a daring attack on Sanming, where they think Hana is captured.

The Milliren

• It might be more fun if the Sanming attack never happens but is just hyped up for their theology about "saving" hana.

Plot

Was told that she was super talented from a very young age, and a Yan priest brought her to the city to study under him to become a hero of the church. She saw how much that made her parents proud and she wants to keep that going.

After leaving and going to the capital at age 16, she flunked out of the hero academy at age 18 due to not being able to achieve the depth of true submission and humility that the church demanded of her. She was told that she was too obsessed with boys and not enough with the church.

She was ordered to return to her home village under the guidance of her priest there, who would train her in submission.

She considered that intolerable and stayed in the capital for a while before being picked up by the Nartho Corporation. The Nartho Corporation was a licensed hero agency that was actually secretly a front for the Milliren, a sect of the Cult of Hana.

The Nartho completed her education and she became a full fledged hero registered by them. She apprenticed under Detectives in the city and is about to become a full detective hero herself.

When you first meet with her [after she's already been your hero, not counting the prologue] you order her to tell you a secret about herself that she would never tell anyone else. She says she never graduated from the hero academy, in fact flunked out due to lacking submission and being obsessed with lusting over Solfrey boys. She was kicked out after her smutty fanfiction depicting relations between her OC and well known Solfrey boys at academy were discovered. She ended up going to a sketchy pay-to-play hero agency and became a hero there. She's been working for them for 3 years now and is about to become a full detective hero.

You are amused and quietly laughing at her. you wouldn't be able to waterboard this out of me

Her early plot revolves around the milliren, you finding her a usual spy within the milliren, and finding out with her that the whole cult of hana thing is wrong, that there is no hana.

This part of the plot is useful for developing the world and serving as a red herring as to the real truth behind this world.

Part of the milliren philosophy is that they are to rescue Hana, but they never do, instead they make endless plans to do so.

After capture by you Jiayi attempts to infiltrate Nartho to ensure that no additional investigations into you are launched. While doing so Jiayi discovers that the Nartho is a front for the Milliren. The Nartho is plotting a daring attack on Sanming, where they think Hana is captured. Jiayi subverts the plan to instead rescue a captured criminal from a different questline.
