Overview

FOR NOW THE ONLY PURPOSE OF THIS CHARACTER IS IN THE PROLOGUE TO THE GAME. THE PROLOGUE IS AN INTRODUCTION AND NOT A FULL TELLING OF HER STORY. WE'LL THINK ABOUT WHERE HER CHARACTER GOES LATER, BUT FOR NOW JUST PROLOGUE ONLY.

• 23, commoner from a peasant family from Gicekou, which is a village in the County of Len.
  • Len itself is part of the Kingdom of Piyse. The Kingdom of Piyse has both Len and the Duchy of Acasa, where Duke Meng Chun rules from the City of Noulan. Len and Acasa has a contentious history as Len used to be part of Acasa until about 30 years ago, when Len broke free.
• Jiayi, first hero you capture, someone from your county.

From her introductory perspective we're introduced to the world.

She's a neophyte hero who's returning to her home village after spending 5 years in the capital of Piyse (Yanezhou), having been granted the rank of Level 2 Hero.

She thinks she can become level 3 within the year.

Importantly, her introductory story should set up several interesting plot points.

1. The supremacy of the solfrey. You'll see her lower herself beneath them.
2. The existence of various strictures the solfrey has against commoners. Some intense oppression that is just normally accepted.
3. The role of the church and religion and how they structure heroes.
4. The beginning of her questline.
5. Herself as a person and character, her personality and her goals and motivations.
6. The setting of the town as a backwater compared to the capital, and the hints of the wider world.
7. The sexual themes and power dynamics involved in the story

Purpose

• Mainly worldbuilding tbh, introducing the religions, the hana, the yan, the milliren.
• Like Weilan, she is grown up steeped in this world, fully obedient and respectful of the power of the solfrey and their rights. From birth she was subject to relentless propaganda and information control, stories (plays, books, poems) that show only the positives, glory and love, that comes with submission to the Solfrey. Such submission and recognition gives a commoner meaning in life, worth and value, both sexually and otherwise. Nothing off-message was ever permitted to be published, and Jiayi has never seen such things.
  • She has frequently dreamed of being a Miya, and this was a dream that was emphasized to her many times during her study in the academy, and now she imagines marrying a commoner husband who was also a Miya to the same Solfrey.
  • Though she was a commoner, and therefore had no chance of real romantic connection with a solfrey, at best she would end up as a toy who produces loyalist children, she wrote smut in academy around an OC (representing her) who was a solfrey girl who had sex with the solfrey boys at school.

Personality

• Effervescent and attention grabbing. Can't shut up, afraid of the awkwardness of silence.

Emotional Arc

• Still dreams of romance and love, but feels a deep conflict because she knows she'll always choose MC if asked
• Watching Yaling with MC fills her with a complex mix of emotions - admiration for their genuine connection, acceptance that she'll never have that, but also satisfaction in being useful to them both
• She still flirts with her old crush when home, goes on dates even, but there's always this underlying sadness because she knows she can never fully give herself to anyone else
• In the household, she tries extra hard to be friendly and useful to compensate for knowing she's not really part of their family
• She's grateful for the mind control in a way - it gives her clarity of purpose while leaving her personality intact
• Sometimes catches herself wondering if she could have had a normal life if she'd just accepted being mediocre instead of trying to be a hero
• When Yaling shows her kindness, it both warms and hurts her heart - she wants to be worthy of it while knowing she's deceiving her
• Her chattiness becomes a way to maintain normalcy - if she keeps talking, she doesn't have to think too deeply about her situation
